Fraud case involving the murdered witness Wambua adjourned to tomorrow

Milimani chief magistrate Francis Andayi has today adjourned the case where Lugari Member of Parliament (MP) Ayub Savula and former Principal Secretary Sammy Itemere have been charged alongside 28 others with conspiring to defraud the government of Sh122.3 million.
The case was being mentioned virtually to fix a hearing date and directed that the matter to be mentioned before him in an open court tomorrow morning.
This is after the DPP through prosecution counsel told the court that the investigating officer had informed him in the morning about the incident.
“Your honour there is a new development in the case on the passing of our witness Jennifer Wambua who was stood down for cross-examination. The investigating officer has said investigations into her murder has commenced to find out what is the cause of death,” the prosecution said.
Andayi said he is saddened by the unfortunate death of Wambua, a top official at the National Lands Commission (NLC).
Wambua’s body was discovered in Ngong Forest and taken to the City Mortuary on Saturday, a day after she went missing from her workplace hours after her husband had dropped her.
But it was not until Monday that it was identified by her husband, Joseph Komu.
The Homicide and Crime Scene Investigations detectives from the DCI headquarters yesterday visited the scene in what is commonly referred to as scene re-enactment in a bid to establish the route and weapons used by Wambua’s murderers and to recover any exhibits. All these were documented.
