Former PS Susan Koech nominated for CBK deputy governor position

President William Ruto has nominated former Tourism and Wildlife Principal Secretary Susan Jemtai Koech as Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) deputy governor.

Upon her nomination, Jemtai’s name has been transmitted to the Senate Departmental committee on Finance for vetting.

The lawmakers will have 28 days to either approve or reject her nomination as soon as they resume their sitting tomorrow.

The Public Service Commission (PSC) advertised a vacancy for the Deputy Governor of the Central Bank’s position on November 1, 2022 adhering to its Act which requires the CBK to have two deputy governors.

Apart from Jemtai, other candidates who were shortlisted for the position included; Charles Ringera, Paul Muthaura, Rose Ngugi, Munir Ahmed, and James Teko Lopoyetum.

Others included; Gerald Nyaoma, Jean Wameyo, Christopher Mwembesa, and Fredrick Otieno Oyugi.
