Former late Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha laid to rest in Siaya

The late former Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha has today been laid to rest at his rural home in Umiru village in Siaya county.

His funeral service was attended by several dignitaries who came to pay their last respect to the late CS led by former President Uhuru Kenyatta, Azimio One Kenya coalition leader Raila Odinga, Siaya governor James Orengo among others.

They eulogised Magoha as an astute academician who immensely transformed education in the country.

The former Head of State remembered the late professor as a friend, a partner, a colleague, adding that the country had lost a great giant.

He urged the government to honour the late CS by implementing what he had started in the Education sector.

“If truly what everybody has said here is what they mean about what a great giant lies before us today, then implement what he started and let this country benefit from what he worked so hard to achieve,” he said.

He noted that Magoha fought inequality in education and was devoted in transforming the Education docket that he headed during his administration.

President William Ruto in his condolence message as read by ICT Cabinet Secretary Eliud Owalo said that the country has lost a great leader in Magoha who achieved all.

“Prof. Magoha loved doing his work. He had no half measures. He put his whole heart and being into everything that he did and he believed in whatever he did. If he did not believe in it he did not even begin doing it,” he stated.

In his part, the former Prime Minister eulogised Magoha as a humble man who was straight forward and a true patriot who made great contributions that transformed education greatly.

Magoha’s family led by his wife Dr Barbara Magoha eulogised him as a jovial man and a man proud of his deeds rather than the position he held.

The late CS died while undergoing treatment at Nairobi Hospital after suffering a cardiac arrest.

He served under former President Uhuru Kenyatta’s administration.
