Ford Kenya has unveiled Wafula Wakoli as the flagbearer of the Bungoma Senate by-election following Moses Wetangula’s step down from the seat to contest for the National Assembly Speaker slot.
The party is confident that Wakoli, being an ally of Wetangula, who is also the party leader, has more chances of winning the by-election.
Actions by the United Democratic Party to lure Ford-K into supporting their own candidate instead of reinstating theirs bore no fruit as Catherine Wanmbilianga, Bungoma women Representative called them out.
‘’We had only one Ford Kenya Senator in the Senate so those thinking we are going to support them should forget it,’’ she said.
Wambilianga, complimented Wakoli for having stood with the party through thick and thin and time had now come for him to be rewarded.
During the general election, the party won six of ten parliamentary seats and more than 20 Members of the County Assembly.
At least five candidates had announced their interest in vying for the vacant seat some of which lost during the previous contest.
UDA’s main candidate for the senator’s seat ballot race is former Bumula Member of Parliament Mwambu Mabonga.
