Focus shift to national league as Kenya Cup group stages conclude

Following the completion of the Kenya Cup group stages at Moi International Sports Centre, Kasarani, attention now turns to the Kenya Volleyball Federation (KVF) National League, where teams will battle for playoff spots from March 27-29 at Nyayo National Stadium.
The Kenya Cup group stage was a showcase of immense talent and dedication, with teams securing their places in the quarter-finals, set to take place on June 21-22 at the Kasarani Indoor Gymnasium, Nairobi.
For the quarter finals in the men’s division; Pool A qualifiers include General Service Unit (GSU),Kenya Ports Authority (KPA),Equity Bank and Administration Police Kenya (APK). In Pool B,-Kenya Defence Forces (KDF), Kenya Prisons, Trailblazers, Kenya Airport Police Unit (KAPU) all went ahead to qualify.
In the Women’s side, Pool A sees Kenya Prisons, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) and Postbank all qualify. In Pool B-Kenya Pipeline, KCB, Kenya Defense Forces (KDF) and Kenya Army all qualified for the next stage.
Chema VC and Kenya Army exited at the group stage but displayed remarkable resilience. The men’s category featured 10 teams, while the women’s category had 7 teams competing.
In the run –up to the quarters, the GSU men reasserted its dominance by winning 4 matches and leading Pool A with 11 points. In the process they won (12-3) sets and had a score ration of 1.11. Coming in second in Pool A was Kenya Ports Authority (KPA) with 10 points having won 3 matches and losing 1 with 11-4 sets aggregate.
In Pool B for the men, the KDF took charge of the group winning all four matches and picking 12 points. On this run, they won (12-3) sets and had a win ratio of 1. Coming in second in the pool was Kenya Prisons who won 2 matches and lost 2 with 6 points to their name.
For the ladies, Pool A saw Kenya Prisons secure 6 points after posting 2 wins. Prisons won (6-1) sets with a score ratio of 1.26. Second in the pool was DCI with 3 points winning 1 match and losing once in the process with their score ratio in the pool stage being 0.99.
In Pool B, heavyweights Kenya Pipeline Corporation (KPC) had 9 points winning 3 matches with 9-1 sets taken. Coming in second was KCB Bank on 6 points winning 2 matches against 1 lost. KCB won 7-3 on sets with a score ratio of 1.
