Exciting fixtures lined up as Police face Ulinzi in hot Premier League clash
The two sides have met six times with both clinching a win and four games ending in a draw
Nine matches are lined up this weekend in the FKF-Premier League with tomorrow the uniformed security personnel from Kenya Police Service and Kenya Defence Forces clashing tomorrow afternoon at Ulinzi Complex in the highlight game.
The two sides have had a very contrasting season in the competition this season. Kenya Police FC leading the standings presently on 49 points off 26 games and with 13 wins altogether. Ulinzi Stars FC, on their part, has had it rough and currently placed 13th with 28 points in the bag.
Ulinzi under the tutelage of Coach Danstan Nyaudo has only six wins in 26 games and will need to pull up their socks to get off the mud. This game has sentimental value to both sides as the winner usually has bragging rights in what is considerably “sibling rivalry”. The two sides have met six times with both clinching a win and four games ending in a draw.
Tusker FC in second place have a date with relegation threatened Nairobi City Stars FC on Sunday at Kenyatta Stadium in Machakos County. The Brewers under Charles Okere know full well the importance of picking full-points in this contest and are odds on favorites according to bookmakers and analysts.
The 13 times league winners have a tad been inconsistent in recent times with three draws in the past five games including two back to back ties. With top scorer Ryan Ogam now out due to injury, there has been a bit of slow pace in the goals department but also they have been conceding by the loads for a contender.
Elsewhere, third placed Gor Mahia FC host Sofapaka FC in a tricky tie at Dandora Stadium Saturday. K’Ogalo on 46 points have a match in hand and 13 wins overall. With former Champions Batoto ba Mungu seeking to revenge, Sinisa Mihic and his charges will want to finish the job with a win as they press on for a 22nd title.
Meanwhile, in another exciting contest lined up at Kenyatta Stadium, AFC Leopards in seventh place face off with familiar face Posta Rangers under Sammy Omollo. Ingwe currently on 37 points in 25 matches have split their last five matches with two wins and two losses plus a draw against the mailmen who are 15th on the log. The last five games has seen the 12 times league champions go winless; a factor that is increasingly enraging fans.
Mara Sugar in 12th place host KCB FC at Awendo Green Stadium in what should be a thriller. Patrick Odhiambo’s Bankers, in fifth place were recently dethroned from the Mozzart Bet Cup and would therefore want a good run for the remainder of the season.
