Ex- Internal Security PS Dave Mwangi charged with forgery, conspiracy to defraud in Sh350million land case

Former Internal Security Permanent Secretary Dave Mwangi has been charged with forgery and conspiracy to defraud in a Sh350million land case.

The said parcel is located along Mombasa Road and belongs to the family of Hasmita Patel.

Mwangi is said to have forged a signature belonging to former commissioner of lands Sammy Mwaita.

Mwangi who appeared before Senior Principal Magistrate Benmark Ekhubi served during the Moi regime in the office of the president.

Mwangi was arrested from his Karen residence in Nairobi and detained at Muthaiga Police Station before his arraignment today.

Police investigations showed one Hasmita Patel care of Holloways Properties Limited is the registered proprietor of land parcel LR 20261 IR 90758 measuring approximately 1.591 hectares situated along Mombasa Road, Nairobi.

She reported to the DCI that some persons fraudulently claimed ownership of her parcel of land after creating a fake title LR 90202 IR 20261.

The matter was investigated and the ODPP approved the prosecution of Mwangi, Sammy Louis Karanja who is still at large and Moses Ouma was also not yet arrested by today.

Despite Mwangi having been charged, the trio will face three counts of Conspiracy to defraud, uttering false documents and forgery of a title.

The matter is now set to be mentioned on January 21, 2025, for pre-trial.
