DP Ruto is not your equal, Tunai tells Bomet governor

Narok Governor Samuel Tunai has told his Bomet counterpart Isaac Ruto to respect the Deputy President William Ruto.

The DP and Ruto, he said were not equals and added that majority of Kenyans were unhappy with persistent attacks aimed at the second most powerful man in the country by the latter.

“Governor Ruto should learn to respect the DP as one of the country’s symbol of unity. He is not a tribal chief like him,” he said on Sunday when the DP toured Enkaroni in Narok South.

Tunai added that his colleague will be trounced by Sotik MP who is also the National Assembly deputy Speaker Joyce Laboso.
He asked electorates in Bomet to vote for Laboso and pleaded with the Kipsigis and the Masai not to vote for the National Super Alliance (Nasa) in the August 8 general election.

“Ruto has done nothing in terms of development to the people of Bomet. Equally, Nasa will not improve lives of the Kipsigis and Masai.

The current government has done a lot for the two communities and for other Kenyan communities,” he said.
Laboso who attended the rally together with nominated senator Beatrice Elachi and his Keiyo Marakwet counterpart Kipchumba Murkomen, said she was confident of beating Ruto, affirming that the Kipsigis were behind the Jubilee Party.
”Ruto has gone to Nasa alone.

Those who think he has moved along with the community are deluding themselves. The outcome of the poll will prove them wrong,” she said.

She asked Narok and Bomet residents not to be duped into supporting Nasa, saying Ruto was given a raw deal in the alliance.
Elachi said Nasa leaders were greedy, claiming they have no interest of the country in their hearts.
