Court issues warrant of arrest against Nyali MP Ali over surety of terror suspect

A Kwale court has issued a warrant of arrest against Nyali Member of Parliament Mohamed Ali for failing to appear in court in a case involving a terror suspect.

Ali was support to present himself in court after the terror suspect, Noordin Hassan Abdallah alias Kamanda, for whom he stood as a surety, missed court sessions on October 4 and November 1, 2021.

The legislator had earlier been summoned to court on October 4 but he apparently failed to show up forcing the Kwale Principal Magistrate to issue the warrant the following day.

Abdallah was arrested in 2019 at Shimoni in Kwlae and charged with conducting recruitment and radicalization of local youths into Islamic State terror group.

He is believed to be an associate of Salim Rashid Mohamed alias Chotara an IS operative who was filmed in June 2021 conducting beheading in the Democratic Republic of Congo.

He was later released on bond.
