Court bars ordination of ACK Bishop in West Pokot
The Anglican Church of Kenya (ACK) West Pokot county has obtained a court order to bar the ordination of one Bishop from the region over irregular and illegitimate procedure that was not followed by the area Bishop Rev Stephen Kewasis.
The court injunction was issued on 29th ,March 2017 by Senior Principal Magistrate Kitale P. Biwott, which stopped the consecration exercise that was slated for tomorrow the 2nd of April until the case filed by the church leaders against Bishop Rev Stephen Kewasis is heard and determined.
ACK church is one of the region’s leading churches in the counties of West Pokot, Trans Nzoia and Elgeyo- Marakwet.
The church leaders who filed the case said that they were against the dictatorial leadership showed by the Bishop Stephen Kewasis while flouting the church constitution and that they are praying hard for the matter to be resolved early. Bishop Stephen Kewasis has been accused of imposing.
Laban Korelach who is the Lay church leader West Pokot county said that they are ready to fight for the church against such improper leadership by the current Bishop Stephen Kewasis who is set to retire next year.
Rev Peter Nariu said the Bishop failed to give a 14 days notification and that it was rushed and ambushed on the senior church delegates without any vetting.
