Controversial priest ‘Yesu Wa Tongaren’ surrender to police for questioning in Bungoma

The Bungoma-based controversial priest Eliud Wekesa, popularly known as ‘Yesu wa Tongaren’ today surrendered before Bungoma Police Station for questioning against the backdrop of enhanced government crackdown against priests perceived to be indoctrinating their gullible congregants into un-Godly practices.

Wekesa presented himself to police hours after being summoned by Bungoma police commander Francis Kooli.

Wekesa is the leader of New Jerusalem Church and is said to be conducting religious teachings.

“I have come to the police station because the OCS told me the county commander wants to have a talk with me and I said that I will honour, that and today I’m here.” Wekesa said shortly after arriving at the station earlier today.

He said he does not require any legal representation since the sun and the moon knows best he is a genuine servant of God on missionary work.

“My lawyers will be the sun and the moon since I have wronged no man. And when I say sun, it’s a parable. I shall leave it to you to understand it yourselves.” Wekesa submitted.

Wekesa was questioned even as the country continues to be treated to bizarre deaths and killings at the ShakaholaForest in Kilifi county linked to controversial pastor Paul Nthenge Mackenzie and pastor Ezekiel Odero.

Already, pesident William Ruto formed a Judicial Commission of Inquiry to probe the Shakahola cult deaths currently registered to be 133 so far.

Court of Appeal Lady Justice Jessie Lessit is chairing the commission that was sworn into office yesterday.
