Commission for University Education gives full accreditation to MKU online programmes

Commission for University Education (CUE) has published a number of programmes that they have accredited to each university.

“Through ODeL, Mount Kenya University (MKU) now takes learning to the people. Anyone with an electronic gadget, with internet connectivity, for example a smartphone, computer, laptop or tablet should be able to conveniently access higher education,” said the don.

MKU received a nod to offer 61 programmes where CUE did not reject or fail to approve any MKU programme as published recently in a local daily.

The institution was given approval to have a cumulative enrolment capacity of 4,895 slots.

CUE is supposed to approve all the academic programmes taught in local universities.

According to the regulating body, there are students already studying unapproved programmes who might now be forced to discontinue their studies due to mistakes that are not of their own making.

For those who might have finished studying these unapproved programmes, it means their academic papers won’t be recognised by prospective employers and therefore end up jobless.
