Co-op Bank convene exclusive summit for National Cooperative CEOs in Mombasa

The Group Chief Executive Officer (CEO) and Managing Director Gideon Muriuki’s led Co-operative Bank of Kenya Limited has organised a National Co-operatives Chief Executive Officers (CEOs) meeting that was presided over today night by the Cabinet Secretary for the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSME Development Simon Chelugui in Mombasa.

The four-days summit is scheduled to close on May 31, 2024.

This event, organized by Co-op Bank brought together cooperative leaders from across the nation to deliberate on issues of mutual interest.

In a statement, the Co-op Bank highlighted that through its subsidiary, Co-op Consultancy, a series of forums have been programmed to engage cooperative leaders at various levels.

The summit was officially opened by the Group Managing Director of Co-operative Bank, Dr. Gideon Muriuki.

The theme of this year’s 3-day workshop is ‘Leading with Resilience’.

“Through Co-op Consultancy, a fully owned subsidiary of Co-operative Bank, several workshops have been programmed to engage Cooperative Leaders on Ethical Leadership, Social Responsibility, Strong Governance and Accountability structures that are critical for the Sustainable Growth of Cooperative Societies. The workshop provides an excellent opportunity for Cooperative Leaders to interact and engage with key stakeholders including SASRA and the Ministry of Cooperatives and MSMEs Development.” The bank added.

These forums are part of the consultancy’s annual training calendar, which includes courses in IT, marketing, customer service, finance, and compliance.” The bank said.

Among the key attendees who graced the event included Dr. Gideon Muriuki, Group Managing Director and CEO of Co-operative Bank; Patrick Kilemi, Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Cooperative and MSME Development; and the Commissioner for Cooperatives David Obonyo among others.

The meeting aims to foster dialogue and collaboration among cooperative leaders, addressing critical topics that impact the cooperative sector and exploring avenues for growth and development.
