CJ Martha Koome to preside over the swearing-in of the new DCI boss tomorrow

Chief Justice Martha Koome will tomorrow preside over the swearing in of the newly appointed Director of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Amin Mohamed Ibrahim following his appointment by President William Ruto.

The event will be held tomorrow morning at 8 am at the Supreme Court Building.

Ruto made his appointment public through a gazette notice via gazette notice VOL.CXXIV – No. 213 of October 14, 2022.

“In exercise of the powers conferred, I William Ruto appoint Amin Mohamed Ibrahim to be the Director, Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI),” the notice read.

His appointment followed the release of 10 shortlisted candidates announced by the National Police Service Commission who were interviewed last week Tuesday.

Ibrahim served as the Head of Internal Affairs Unit (IAU) and has served in various capacities including the then CID investigations Bureau, Banking Fraud Investigations.

As a cadet inspector trainee, Ibrahim joined the Kenya police in 1989.

He advanced through the ranks, holding many top posts, including that of a provincial CID officer in the former Central, Western, and Rift Valley provinces.

Ibrahim was appointed assistant Inspector General and director of Kenya’s small arms and light weapons focal point in 2019.

Additionally, Ibrahim oversaw the investigations and prosecution of cases involving violence after the 2007 elections.
