The weather forecast from Kenya Metrological Department indicates that heavy rainfall will be experienced in some parts of the country between September 23 and 29.
Areas likely to experience heavy rainfall include Nyeri, Murang’a, Meru, Tharaka, Embu, Uasin Gishu, West Pokot and Trans Nzoia counties.
Moderately warm daily temperatures of between 20-28 degrees are expected in Nairobi, Narok, Machakos, Kisumu, Busia, Vihiga, Nyamira and Kisii.
Cold temperatures are likely to be experienced in Nyandarua, Nakuru, Narok, Nairobi, Nyeri and Trans Nzoia.
The seven day weather forecast released on Monday shows that the Northeastern part of Kenya will experience high temperatures of about 30 degrees. The areas include Marsabit, Isiolo, Wajir, Garissa, Turkana Kilifi, Kitui and Mandera.
Kericho, Kakamega, Bungoma, Nakuru, Nandi, Busia and Elgeyo Marakwet will experience moderate rainfall of about 50-70 mm.
In April, the Kenya Meteorological Department announced that there was going to be a shortage of food and water between March and May after the long rains failed.
“Dry conditions are expected to dominate most parts of the country leading to further deterioration of food security and water resources,” the Met said.
