School closed after building-collapse tragedy
Precious Talents Primary School has been closed for the week to allow for investigations into the Monday morning building-collapse tragedy.
Education Cabinet Secretary George Magoha gave the directive when he visited the site where seven pupils died and 64 others injured in Nga’ndo area, Dagoretti South, Nairobi County.
“We have asked learners to stay at home over the next four days as we put in place adequate measures to ensure their safety of learning,” said Prof Magoha.
The two-storey classroom building caved in and came down on pupils at the private school a few minutes to 7am.
The disaster has cast a spotlight on structures in private schools and safety of pupils in Kenyan schools.
However, the CS sought to allay fears that pupils across the country are in danger saying the government is keen to ensure that the learning environment is safe.
