UDA factions turn on each other after Ol Kalou by-elections loss

The humiliating defeat suffered by the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) in the July Ol Kalou parliamentary by-election has reportedly triggered fresh political friction within the ruling party, with a section of Cabinet Secretaries, Members of Parliament (MPs) and other influential allies turning against one another.

Sources within the party say some leaders have been denied access to President William Ruto as blame games intensify over the unexpected loss.

One faction is reportedly accusing its former allies, now political foes, of failing to deliver despite receiving substantial financial facilitation and making numerous promises to the electorate.

The disgruntled group also claims some leaders deliberately portrayed their colleagues as politically inconsequential and a liability to the president, allegedly to secure their own positions and influence.

The fallout has reportedly deepened mistrust within UDA, with rival camps quietly lobbying for the removal or sidelining of leaders blamed for the Ol Kalou debacle.
