Gubernatorial seat campaign turns chaotic in Laikipia county

Supporters of the two gubernatorial seat candidates in Laikipia County yesterday staged a showdown against each other during a campaign meeting organized by Uhuruto Express in Nanyuki making it hard for leaders to address the crowd.
The meeting organized by Jubilee Mps who lost the party nomination saw supporters of incumbent and Jubilee flag bearer Joshua Irungu and Independent candidate Ndiritu Muriithi heckle each other with Irungu’s team making it hard for Muriithi to address.
They chanted that the meeting was organized by Jubilee supporters and those in the independent should not have attended.
The Jubilee supporters chanted “Suti” slogan while Muriithi and his deputy John Mwaniki were called to address the gathering and it was only through the intervention of Kigumo MP Jamlek Kamau that the crowd calmed down but could not take anything from the independent candidates.
Irungu who was not present was represented by his youthful running Patrick Waigwa who urged independent candidates to shun attending functions organized by their rivals.
Waigwa a close ally of Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri urged residents to give the president another term and also make sure he has soldiers in the council of governors as well as in both parliaments and the county assemblies.
