Two police officers killed, 2 missing after vehicle hit landmine in Garissa
At least two police officers attached to the UN have been killed after their vehicle ran over a landmine at Hagarbul area along Dadaab-Garissa main supply route in Garissa county.
North Eastern regional police commander George Seda while confirming the incident noted that four officers were onboard when the vehicle hit the explosive device.
Authorities however only found two bodies while the other two were missing.
He said that a response team has been dispatched to the scene to find the missing bodies.
The incident comes after a number of officers were confirmed dead after their vehicle hit an IED at Dadaab-Garissa road.
The victims were Border Patrol Unit (BPU) who left the Abdi Suku camp in Daadab heading to Garissa.
In yet another incident engineers from the Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) were targeted by suspected Al-Shabaab militants, who had set an IED along the LAPSSET road.
The explosion killed four people who were part of the convoy.
