Ahmed Farah quits as KNCCI CEO just over five months since his appointment

In a statement, Farah said his departure takes effect immediately, saying the move followed differences with the board

Kenya National Chamber of Commerce and Industry (KNCCI) Chief Executive Officer Ahmed Farah has resigned barely five months into his tenure.

In a statement, Farah said his departure takes effect immediately, saying the move followed differences with the board.

Though he did not mention the specific reason for his resignation, Farah said that as with many leadership journeys, moments of divergence can shape the way forward.

“In this case, differing perspectives between myself and the Board of Directors have brought my tenure to a close,” he added.

“It has been an honour to serve in this role and to contribute to the advancement of the Chamber’s strategic mandate. Over the course of my tenure, I have been privileged to work alongside a highly committed team, valued partners, and a broad network of stakeholders, all dedicated to enhancing Kenya’s business landscape,” Farah said.

He said he remains optimistic in KNCCI’s potential in promoting a resilient, inclusive, and globally competitive economy.

“With capable leadership and sustained collaboration, I am certain the institution will build upon its solid foundation and continue to deliver meaningful impact for the business community in the country. I extend my sincere appreciation and thanks to all who supported me during my time at the Chamber. Your confidence and partnership have been instrumental and deeply appreciated,” Farah added.

Farah, a former country director for Trademark Africa (TMA) Kenya, joined KNCCI in November last year replacing Patrick Nyangweso, who held the position since April 2023.

During his tenure at TMA, Farah led transformative programs focused on Kenya’s economic growth and regional integration.

Farah holds a Master’s in International Development from the University of Manchester and a Bachelor of Commerce from Kenyatta University.
