Four officers charged with murder of Sh72million heist suspect

The officers, Corporal Joseph Ojode Obama, Constables Henry Mutai, Bashir Ali, and Charles Kirimi, appeared before Justice Jecinta Nzioka at the Milimani High Court.

They denied the charges.

The four allegedly killed Wycliffe Owour in March 2020 at Kayole Junction in Kayole.

Owuor, according to the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), was gunned down on March 24, 2020, after a fierce shoot-out between him and the police.

The gang is said to have defied orders to surrender, engaging the officers in a fire exchange that left the said suspect down.

Owuor is alleged to have orchestrated the bank heist with the aid of rogue police officers.

A video shared by one of Owuor’s attorneys showed police roughing and assaulting him prior to his demise.

Over Sh7 million was recovered from the suspects of the 2019 Nairobi West ATM heist.
