Kenya’s Kibiwott Kandie has clocked 58.09 to win the Valencia half marathon reclaiming his title.
Kibiwott missed his earlier personal best of 57:32 which was a world record time he set in 2020 in the Spanish city before Ugandan Jacob Kiplimo ran a one second lower at the 2021 Lisbon Half Marathon.
Compatriot Daniel Mateiko finished third clocking 58:40 with Ethiopia’s Yomif Kejelcha finishing second clocking 58:32.
In the race of the top four in pursuit on of the title non could keep up with Kandie at the 10 kilometre mark living him to cruise to a comfortable win.
However, in the women’s category Kenya missed out on the podium finish with Germany’s Konstanze Klosterhalfen winning the race after clocking 1:05:41 with Ethiopians Tsigie Gebreselama (1:05:46) and Hawi Feysa Gejia (1:06:00) finishing second and third respectively.
Kapsabet-based Margaret Chelimo came in fourth clocking 1:06:50
