Baringo South MP Grace Kipchoim has died after a long illness.
The disease had left Kipchoim, 56, bedridden for months so much so that she was sworn into office from her hospital bed.
She did not even campaign for her reelection but still managed to trounce her male opponents
The legislator, who is from the minority Endorois community garnered 9,299 votes against her closest competitor Charles Kamuren’s (Kanu) 8,905 votes.
“My political journey has not been easy, amid illness. This is God’s making. He makes things work for our good. I am thankful to the electorate for making me proud once more,” Kipchoim told the Standard from her Nairobi Hospital bed after she was declared winner.
