Acting Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow cracks the whip on police officers
The acting Inspector General of Police Noor Gabow has issued guidance to all police officers in the National Police Service through their respective Services and Directorates for full compliance.
This follows President William Ruto’s speech during Mashujaa Day celebrations which highlighted various policy issues, amongst them issues touching on the National Police Service and how it impacts the public through service delivery.
“I echo the President’s sentiments and take this opportunity to remind all officers of their higher calling, which should be exercised in strict accordance to the Constitution and the rule of law,” he said.
He reminded the officers of their core mandate of protecting lives and not otherwise, urging them to pursue their noble role through democratic ideals as laid down through the constitution, laws of Kenya and administrative orders found in the Service Standing Orders.
He further noted the need for professionalism, adherence to respect to human rights and being responsive to and working collaboratively with the public.
The Ag IG in his guidance has also directed the Directors of DCI and IAU to finalise with speed investigations touching on human rights with police complicity.
The acting IG said that the Service reassures the public that it remains committed to their safety and security and would closely cooperate with them to realize law and order within the framework of the law.
