Amani National Congress (ANC) leader Musalia Mudavadi has criticised his former counterparts from One Kenya Alliance as a subsidiary of Raila Odinga’s Azimio La Umoja.
Speaking in Naivasha town yesterday during a campaign trail, Mudavadi said this was a Government project that was being controlled from State House.
“The reason I left OKA was after learning that it is a subsidiary of Azimio and a State project,” he said.
He further called on Naivasha residents to reject the Azimio group, as it was a Government project meant for self-preservation of some leaders.
“The government should respect the rule of law and let Kenyans decide who will be their next leader come August 9,” he said.
Mudavadi’s remarks came hours after OKA leaders Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Kanu’s Gideon Moi and Cyrus Jirongo welcomed Martha Karua (Narc-K) into their alliance.
The principals noted that the coalition is still open to partnerships with like-minded leaders, adding that 10 other political parties have expressed interest in joining the OKA.
“As of today, 10 other political parties have expressed interest in joining the Coalition. This is because we believe that the diversity of our nation calls for heterogeneity of minds and ideas to effect impactful change. However, those not aligned with these values are likely to eventually fall by the wayside,” they added.
Further, Kalonzo denied reports that OKA could join the Orange Democratic Movement-led Azimio Movement.
“Other political parties are free to join our alliance, not the way around,” he said.
Musyoka dismissed the notion of the alliance ever joining ‘Kenya Kwanza’ alliance terming it as “that is finished Kenya”.
