Queen Mary of Denmark on a three-days state visit in Nairobi
Her Majesty Queen Mary of Denmark has arrived in Kenya for a three-day official visit.
She was received at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport yesterday night by Prime Cabinet Secretary and Minister for Foreign Affairs Musalia Mudavadi, accompanied by Cabinet Secretary for Tourism and Wildlife Rebecca Miano.
While in Kenya, the Queen is expected to tour conservation development projects for endangered species at the Coast as well as several landfill projects spearheading waste management, circular economy initiatives, and urban environmental resilience within Nairobi before participating at the ongoing UNEA 7 meeting taking place at the United Nations Office in Nairobi.
The state visit provides a platform to strengthen Kenya–Denmark collaboration in renewable energy, climate action, and environmental protection. It presents opportunities to explore new areas of partnership and innovation that benefit both nations, particularly in people-centered and sustainable development initiatives. Kenya extends a warm welcome to Her Majesty.
A key highlight of her visit will be her participation in the ongoing United Nations Environment Assembly (UNEA-7) at the United Nations Office in Nairobi, where global leaders are deliberating on environmental policies and climate commitments.
Kenya’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said the Queen’s visit offers an opportunity to deepen cooperation between Kenya and Denmark, especially in renewable energy, environmental protection, and people-centered development programmes.
The government extended a warm welcome to Queen Mary, expressing optimism that the visit will open doors for expanded partnerships in innovation and sustainable growth for both nations.
