Makueni Governor Kivutha Kibwana has decamped to Wiper Democratic Movement party in order to help in negotiation talks in Nasa for the opposition flag bearer.
Speaking at Kambu Market in Kibwezi East,the wiper Leader Kalonzo Musyoka said he was rooting for Kibwana to help him in ongoing negotiations in opposition National Super Alliance ( Nasa) on selecting the candidate to take on Jubilee in august polls.
He described the governor as a seasoned politician, human right defender and legal pundit whose entry in Wiper would bring massive impact on who will fly the opposition’s fag in august polls.
“ I was forced to look for Kibwana since the Negotiations at Nasa have reached a certain level that we need such people of high wisdom “ said Kalonzo.
He, however, revealed that he would lobby with his party’s top organ to ensure that Kibwana gets direct Wiper party ticket.
Muungano party will remain intact and will field candidates in all other positions while maintaining its stake as opposition Cord partner.
“ Muungano will remain as party, will remain as a Coalition partner , there is no party that is going to be dissolved so you should keep off for any propaganda” said Kibwana whom up to yesterday was the party leader.
He said that there was a resistance from his supporters on the matter for the fear of being shortchanged upon entry into Wiper.
“ I am ready to help you in making a way to State House, if I helped retired president Mwai Kibaki as his political adviser why can’t I help Kalonzo to achieve his dream…” said Kibwana.
Kalonzo ignited talks to have Kibwana in his party a fortnight ago during a vote mobilisation drive at Wote, Makueni county.
The two leaders exchanged commitment documents in full glare of cameras and supporters even as the wiper is set for National Executive Council to seal the deal.
This is a calculated move by Mr Musyoka to consolidate support in his backyard. “You know that we lost our Governor for Machakos, but that is his constitutional right”, said Kalonzo.
Present was Wiper deputy party leader Farah Maalim, deputy national chairman Mutula Kilonzo Jnr, Muunango party Titus Muunda, Mps Susan Musyoka, Jessica Mbalu and Daniel Maanzo all of whom applauded the move and welcomed Kibwana.
