Police accused of protecting suspect

Police in Eldoret are on the spot for allegedly interfering with a case in which a man is accused of defiling his daughter aged 14.
Uasin Gishu Woman Rep Gladys Shollei stormed Ainabtich Police Station where the 40-year-old suspect is being held and demanded justice for the minor.
She accused the officers for slowing down probe into the matter despite a medical report being ready.
“The medical report is already out. Why hasn’t the suspect taken plea? They say they are waiting for a prosecutor to interview the child. This is the work of the police,” said Ms Shollei.
Contacted, County Police Commandant Ayub Gitonga, however, denied claims of police laxity, saying necessary action has been taken against the suspect.
