There were allegedly over five hundred thousand ghost voters during the August 9, 2022, general election.
This is according to Busia Senator Okiya Omtatah during his participation in the ongoing supreme Court proceeding of the presidential election petition.
He said that several Kiems kits were still transmitting data a day after voting was closed, saying that this could have been an avenue to add the non-existent voters.
“The manipulations of figures as expressed in Form 34C, where the total valid votes as attributed to the four candidates vary from the total cast votes as captured by the IEBC is possible only where votes are counted manually as opposed to a technical system which should be accurate,” he said.
Moreover, he added that 1,665,412 people voted between 5 pm and 8.45 pm on August 9.
The activist explained that the spike in votes is not possible as most voters had cast their votes by the close of voting at 5 pm.
“And, with keeping secret the alleged polling stations involved, this data hides the sum number of polling stations that were allegedly ongoing with identifying voters via Kiems kits way beyond the close of voting,” he said.
Omtatah also argued that none of the presidential candidates reached the 50 per cent plus one vote threshold for an outright win.
