Busia county pays three-month salary to its doctors
Busia county government has implemented the presidential directive of paying its Doctors all their three month salary arrears, a government official has revealed.
The County Chief Officer in charge of Health Dr Asoka Itur said 46 doctors were paid their January, February and March salaries.
Speaking to the press in his office, Dr Itur said the County doctors had also been paid their December irrespective of the strike that paralyzed services in all health facilities and even making some patients to lose lives.
He said that there will be no more strikes in Busia county because doctors were paid salaries according to their demands.
“We don’t expect to have any more strikes in our county because we have paid our doctors all their salary arrears according to the presidential directive,” said Dr Itur.
Dr Itur also revealed that six children died at Busia county Referral hospital because of anaemia.
He said the children lost their lives because the hospital has been experiencing an acute shortage of blood since schools were closed.
