ACK distance itself from move by England church to bless same sex marriages
The Anglican church of Kenya (ACK) has condemned the move by their England counterparts to bless same sex marriage citing the move by the parent church as sinful and unacceptable.
Through a statement, Archbishop Dr. Jackson Ole Sapit said that the liberal churches have used their political dominance to secularize the church by normalising all manner of sin.
“It is ridiculous that the Church of England affirms to remain faithful to the traditional teachings of marriage, yet have sanctioned the so-called prayers of love to be used in their Churches to bless unions between persons of same sex. This is hypocritical and a blatant lie for there is only one truth and not many versions or opinions of it,” he stated.
“We in the Anglican Church of Kenya call upon these Western Liberal Provinces to repent and return to the one and only faith in Jesus Christ as revealed and taught in the Canonical scriptures of the Church,” he added.
The Archbishop stated that the resolutions of the England Church do not apply to the Church of Kenya and that they do not recognize teaching that is extra-biblical or contrary to the teachings of the Bible.
“We affirm that marriage, as taught in the Holy Scriptures is between one man and one woman, monogamous and heterosexual. Any deviation from this God-designed covenant relationship is sinful and unacceptable,” stated the Archbishop.
“We affirm that the Holy scripture is authoritative in all matters of faith and any departure from the historic formulators and the plain teachings of the scripture is an error and must be corrected,” he added.
He called on the western churches to repent and follow the faith as taught in the canonical scriptures of the church.
“We make a humble call to these churches: Wake up! Strengthen what little remains, for even what is left is almost dead. Your actions do not meet the requirements of God,” he stated.
His remarks come after the England church decided to allow same sex couples to attend church after being bound in a civil marriage or partnership, to “give thanks, dedicate their relationship to God and receive God’s blessings.”
The decision also involves repenting and asking God for forgiveness for its failure to welcome members of the LGBTQ community, for the harm they have undergone and continue to go through in churches.
