Azimio launch online platform to live-stream protests
The Azimio One Kenya coalition has unveiled an online platform to live-stream protests, occurrence during their weekly demonstrations.
The platform dubbed mddkenya.com, invites members of the public to post photos, videos and audios of the protests anonymously or publicly.
“In the face of real threat to the free media, we wish to assure Kenyans that we have put in place a secure web-platform where members of the public are invited to post occurrences in form of photos, videos and audios during our weekly peaceful demonstrations. This material will be available for the world to see. This will enable us keep the public and all stakeholders informed of progress and real-time occurrences across the country,” National Assembly minority leader Opiyo Wandayi stated.
According to Wandayi, anybody with a phone or a camera, can access and post anonymously or view the material remotely.
“All those that intend to cause mayhem will also be captured through a number of our IP-enabled spy cameras that will transmit to our cloud servers in real-time,” he added.
Earlier today, the Inspector General of Police Japheth Koome issued a warning to citizens who intend to use offensive weapons to cause havoc in the country’s capital tomorrow during the planned Azimio One Kenya coalition anti-government protests.
“We have heard others say that they will bring violence in Nairobi tomorrow. Nothing of the sort will happen because the police are ready to ensure there’s peace in the country. Anyone armed with offensive weapons will be arrested,” Koome noted.
He urged every Kenyan to carry on with their normal businesses tomorrow without fear affirming that security teams are well prepared for the protest.
