Veteran journalist and former Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) officer William Oeri is dead.
Oeri was crushed to death after his vehicle was involved in a head-on-collision with a tipper in Makuyu, Murang’a county on Sunday.
According to a police report, the journalist was driving along Sagana-Kenol road, heading towards Kenol, when he came into a head-on collision with an oncoming lorry.
“Due to impact, the Toyota Wish burst into flames but members of the public used sand to put off the fire,” police said.
Oeri worked as a deputy photojournalist at Nation Media Group for many years and was working with People’s Daily at the time of his death.
His body has since been moved to General Kago mortuary awaiting a postmortem examination.
