Ailing Oburu in London for treatment

ODM Party Leader Oburu Oginga on Thursday confirmed that he is in the United Kingdom for a routine medical check-up, a day after the party said he was abroad on official duties.

In a statement , Senator Oburu said he travelled to the UK on the advice of his doctors and party leadership for a “thorough, routine medical checkup.”

He said the visit would enable him to undergo a comprehensive health evaluation while taking time to rest and rejuvenate.

The disclosure came after ODM announced that its Central Committee meeting had been chaired by Deputy Party Leader Simba Arati on Oburu’s behalf.

Oburu said his temporary absence would not affect party operations, expressing confidence in Arati, Deputy Party Leader Abdulswamad Nassir, the National Central Committee and secretariat.

He described his decision to step back as a “deliberate, strategic moment” to allow the party’s leadership structures to demonstrate their strength.
