Abductions: LSK now wants court to order DNA tests on 14 bodies lying at City Mortuary
Police IG and DCI, through lawyer Paul Nyamondi, have vehemently opposed the application, claiming it will open another ex-parte hearing

The Law Society of Kenya (LSK) has asked the High Court to issue orders to the Government Chemist to conduct DNA tests on 14 unidentified bodies lying at the City Mortuary to determine if two people still missing after being abducted in December last year.
In an application presented before Justice Bahati Mwamuye, LSK, through senior counsel Martha Karua, say the tests will help the court determine the whereabouts of Kavingo Mbisi and Kevin Muthoni.
The LSK made the application in a case where the Inspector General of Police Douglas Kanja and Director of Investigations Mohammed Amin are required to present the still missing persons in court.
However, the police chiefs, through lawyer Paul Nyamondi vehemently opposed the application, claiming it will open another ex-parte hearing yet the other party (Government Chemist) needs to be heard.
Nyamondi added that they have not been served with the application, adding that the police are yet to receive details of Muthoni.
The Karua team did not dispute this, stating that the reason they applied for DNA tests was to help the court with information, which can lead to the discovery of his body if he is dead.
The two were among nine youth abducted by unknown people, believed to be from elite police units, five of whom were released last month as pressure piled of Kanja and Amin to personally appear in court and explain the whereabouts of the missing persons.
The bodies of two others, Justus Mutumwa and Martin Mwau, who were abducted in Athi River, Machakos County on December 17, were found at the City Mortuary late last month.
