Kibera court issues arrest warrant against car dealer accused of stealing Sh33million Range Rover

This is the second warrant of arrest to be issued against Mugaa in less than a month after a Makadara Magistrate court recently issued another warrant of arrest against him alongside Director of Valley Road Motors Francis Mundia and his son Brandon Ng’ang’a over alleged theft of a Mercedes E350 valued at Sh6.5million

A Kibera law court in Nairobi has issued a warrant of arrest for Nairobi-based car dealer Robert Bundi Mugaa, who is facing charges of stealing a Range Rover valued at Sh33million.

This is the second warrant of arrest to be issued against Mugaa in less than a month after a Makadara Magistrate court recently issued another warrant of arrest against him alongside Director of Valley Road Motors Francis Mundia and his son Brandon Ng’ang’a over alleged theft of a Mercedes E350 valued at Sh6.5million.

The latest warrant of arrest against Mugaa was issued failed to appear in court for a scheduled mention of the case before a Kibera law court yesterday.

Instead, Mugaa’s legal team informed the court that he was unwell, but failed to provide any medical documentation to support the claim, a factor that weighed heavily in the court’s decision.

In its ruling, the court emphasised the lack of evidence validating the defense’s explanation for Muga’s absence.

The court had convened to confirm whether the defense had received critical evidence, including CCTV footage and M-Pesa transaction statements, which the defense claims are still outstanding.

In addition, the defense revealed that both parties were pursuing an out-of-court settlement and requested more time to finalize negotiations.

However, the prosecution objected, stating that it had already supplied the defense with witness statements from six individuals, the charge sheet, a forensic report, and a brief from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI).

“The accused has not appeared in court, and no medical evidence has been provided to justify his absence,” the prosecution argued, successfully securing the warrant.

On May 28, 2025, Makadara Law Courts Principal Magistrate Gilbert Shikwe issued the warrant of arrest orders against Muga, Ng’ang’a and his son Brandon after they absconded a court session.

According to documents filed in court, the trio are accused for conspiring to steal a motor vehicle, Mercedes E350 red in colour, registration number KDS 724T belonging to Andrew Kiarie.

The three, Ng’ang’a, his son Brandon and Mugaa skipped a court session where they were to be charged with conspiracy to commit a felony contrary to section 393 of the Penal Code.

They also face accusations of theft of a motor vehicle contrary to section 287 (A) of the Penal Code.

According to police statements, the vehicle was purchased by Brandon Njoroge Ng’ang’a, who claims he paid the full amount to Mugaa, who presented himself as an agent for the car’s registered owner, Peter Munene Njoroge.

However, ownership documents of the vehicle in questioned Brandon says he bought from Mugaa do not bear the names of the claimed owner Peter Munene, instead, those of the complainant Andrew Kiarie.

Brandon says that upon realising the ownership dispute, he returned the vehicle to its legal owner and is now seeking a refund.
