Samidoh faces arrest after being interdicted from police service for ‘desertion of duty’

The Anti-Stock Theft Unit (ASTU) has ordered the arrest of police officer Samuel Ndirangu Muchoki, known in Mugithi circles as Samidoh, for desertion of duty.
In a circular sent to, among others, Gatumbiro Police Station in his home area in Nyandarua County, Kennedy Barasa, on behalf of the ASTU Commander, directed officers at the station to trace him, arrest him, and share the information that he has been interdicted.
“Muchoki has been absent without leave for more than 10 days, and he is hereby declared a deserter. Pay section stop his salary with immediate effect. Take the necessary action and act accordingly. Stapol Gatumbiro, kindly visit his home and if traced, arrest him and inform this end for necessary action,” Barasa ordered.
According to the circular by ATSU, the Mugithi singer had been given leave for 10 days and was to report back to work before the end of last month, but chose to extend the leave without any information.
Barasa explained that efforts to reach him have been futile as his whereabouts have remained unknown, which led to the officer being termed a deserter.
“Please be informed that Muchoki was granted an off-duty and was supposed to report back on 27/05/2025, but he failed. Since then, he has not been seen, and his whereabouts are not known. Efforts to trace him have been futile,” he stated.
The National Police Service has further directed the halting of Samidoh’s salary, as they added that his May Salary shall be paid in part.
Since his transfer, Samidoh had not reported to his new station as netizens shared that his transfer came after the viral video where he was seen performing in a nightclub where revelers were chanting ‘wantam’, a phrase used by opposition leaders in campaigning against the re-election of President William Ruto.
He had been forced to apologise to his fanbase for joining other Kikuyu musicians who visited Deputy President Kithure Kindiki’s Karen residence as part of the DP’s empowerment initiative.
However, the incident led to his transfer from Nyeri to ASTU headquarters in Gilgil.

In another posted early today from Minneapolis, United States, he captioned another photo of George Floyd, who was African American man who was murdered by a white police officer in Minneapolis, Minnesota in 2020, with a quote attributed to respected US President the late Abraham Lincoln thus: “Those who deny freedom to others deserve it Not to themselves!”
It appeared to be a cryptic condemnation of police brutality and the timing coming after the death of blogger Albert Omondi Ojwang in police custody, is unlikely to be coincidental.
