Two arrested in Nairobi for stealing Sh280,000 after posing as female masseuses
The two suspects, identified as Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, are accused of luring unsuspecting clients by advertising “professional massage services” online.
Sleuths from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) have arrested two men who duped an unsuspecting they were female masseuses offering professional services before robbing him of Ksh 280,000 in Nairobi’s kasarani area.
The two suspects, identified as Alex Mugo Wachira and Simon Chomba Mbogo, are accused of luring unsuspecting clients by advertising “professional massage services” online.
The DCI indicates that they lured their victims into promising a massage experience before turning violent and robbing them of their cash and other valuables.
“But instead of a relaxing massage, victims are met with a not-so-soothing surprise. The victims were met with a not-so-soothing surprise,” the DCI Boss Amin Mohamed stated.
In the latest incident, which led to their arrest, a middle-aged man lost the money to the two after they forced him to transfer the cash to one of their numbers.
A report by the detectives indicates that the man was enticed by what seemed to be two attractive women offering top-tier massage sessions, he made his way to their supposed spa residence along Lumumba Drive, Kasarani.
However, moments into the “massage,” things took a sharp turn.
The two whipped out knives, revealing their true identities and zero massage knowledge. Under duress, the victim was forced to transfer Ksh 280,000 to the suspects’ phone number before him was robbed of his valuables and unceremoniously thrown out of the house.
They were arrested through forensic leads Investigations were initiated while having a good time at a chilling spot in the Kamiti prison area, probably using the stolen cash.
They are currently being held in custody at the Kasarani Police Station pending arraignment in court tomorrow.
Photos of the suspects shared by the DCI online indicated they wore full make-up and other feminine products to deceive potential clients that they were women ready to offer high-class massage services.
This comes as, besides fake massage therapists, there is also an emerging trend of individuals using their parlors to conduct other unlawful businesses.
