Kenya Sevens team teetering after two consecutive losses in Vancouver

It was not a start they had hoped for in the fourth leg of the HSBC Series as Kenya Shujaa fell in bad fashion to Argentina and France in their pool matches late yesterday and early today in the Vancouver (Canada) leg.

Shujaa under Coach Kevin Wambua first went down to the Pumas of Argentina 24-0 with a 17-0 half-time lead to the South American team.

The team fielded debutant Fijian-born now naturalized Kenyan Jone Kubu but that was to be enough as the Kabras RFC star man failed to make the desirable impact.

Argentina controlled possession and dictated the pace of the match, keeping Shujaa on the back foot.

Kenya struggled to convert their opportunities into points, with handling errors and defensive lapses proving costly as has been the norm.

In the second match played against former series leaders France, once again it was a similar story of basic errors that cost the team as they went down 33-7.

This in in effect put them at the basement of the pool as fight for survival in the series barely a year after return from the Challenger Series
