Tragedy in West Pokot as 3 women buried alive, 2 others injured after gold mine caves in

Three women were yesterday evening buried alive while two others escaped death by a whisker after a gold mine they were digging caved in Nyelnyel area within West Pokot County.

The trio are aged between 20 and 32 years old.

The search and rescue operations by the locals ended today at dawn when the retrieved lifeless bodies of the deceased.

The two survivors were rushed to Sigor Hospital for emergency treatment. Meanwhile, the bodies of the three have been taken to the Kapenguria mortuary.
