The National Council of NGOs castigate extra-judicial killings

The recent extrajudicial executions in the country have drawn criticism from the National Council of Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs).

The organisation criticised the killing of the renowned Pakistani journalist Arshad Sharif and urged authorities to act swiftly to bring those responsible to book.

On the death of the two Indian men and their taxi driver who went missing, NGO cited the bones, clothing, and belts believed to belong to the victims as a case study.

According to the consortium, President William Ruto’s decision to dissolve the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI) Special Service Unit (SSU) was a step higher in fighting extrajudicial killings.

At an interfaith prayer ceremony held on Sunday at Kericho Green Stadium in Kericho County, Ruto stated that his administration is dedicated to boosting security in the nation for the safety of civilians who have traditionally suffered at the hands of rogue killer security gangs.

He mentioned the discovery of dead bodies at the notorious River Yala as one of the factors that his government is trying to change.

Ruto’s government has also received praise from the council for its support in food security through the distribution of subsidised fertiliser, which is in line with the efforts of NGOs to end hunger in semi-arid and dry regions of the nation.

The council further applauded Kenyans for the recent held peaceful voting and tranquil change of government.
