Ugandan government has distances itself from remarks made by President Yoweri Museveni’s son Lt. Gen Muhoozi Kainerugaba on twitter that he can capture Nairobi in less than 2 weeks.
Reacting to the tweet posted by Muhoozi, the Ugandan Foreign Affairs Ministry stated that it treasures the existing strong bilateral relation between the two countries adding that it does not conduct official business through social media.
“The ministry wishes to emphasize that the government and the people of the Republic of Uganda treasure the existing strong bilateral relations between the people and the government of the Republic of Kenya based on our shared history, common values mutual respect, trust and the desire to build a unified east African community. to this end the government of the republic of Uganda wishes to reiterate its commitment to good neighbourliness, peaceful co-existence and cooperation,” stated the ministry.
Muhoozi was on a twitter spree the whole of yesterday and today calling on the unifying of East Africa to be one state.
He went as a far as jokingly saying that his father will be president of “East African federation“ Kenya’s President Dr. William Ruto Vice President and former President Uhuru Kenyatta Foreign Affairs minister and he will be the Chief of Defence force.
