Boda boda rider charged after trafficking a 14-year-old girl, intoxicating her in a hotel room

A boda boda rider allegedly found spoiling a 14-year-old girl with beer at a hotel along Jogoo Road, Nairobi after luring her from Village market in Gigiri where she was hanging out with her parents is facing charges of human trafficking in contravention of section 4 of Counter Trafficking in Persons Act.

Lawrence Omondi is accused of trafficking the juvenile girl from Village Market to GrandPa Hotel in Eastlands on June 21, 2025.

He’s is also facing a charge of exposing the minor to a moral danger contrary to section 127 (1) of the children Act of 2022.

In the charge, Omondi is accused of taking the minor to a room, supplying her with alcohol and committing an indecent Act with her.

Omondi was also charged with supplying alcohol to a minor contrary to section 28 (1) of the Alcoholic drinks control Act.

“On June 14, 2025, at GrandPa Hotel within Hamza area in Nairobi, unlawfully supplied alcohol drinks to a child aged 14 years knowing or having reasons to believe that she was under the age of 18 years,” reads the charges against Omondi.

The child was in the company of her parents when the suspect who had allegedly bought her a phone earlier lured her with promises of giving her weed and beer.

Omondi took her to Tikkos hotel in the same area where he bought her chicken and fries. He later took her to a supermarket where he bought her more drinks before he took her to the GrandPa Hotel where they were found.

The suspect was traced after the vivtim sent her parents a notice that she was in danger, after Omondi kissed her and started fondling her.

The same was escalated to police who received directions to where the minor was and arrested the suspect and rescued the minor.

Omondi denied the charges before Senior Principal Magistrate Paul Rotich of Makadara law courts.

The suspect was released on a cash bail of Sh30, 000.

The matter will be mentioned on July 15, 2025 for setting of hearing of the matter.
