731 new Covid-19 cases as the country records five deaths

The country has today recorded 731 new Covid-19 cases, from a sample size of 4,513 tested in the last 24 hours.

This now brings the total number of cases to 113,967, with the cumulative tests conducted so far standing at 1,373,839.

“Of these cases, 691 are Kenyans while 40 are foreigners with 436 being males and 295 being females.”

In terms of age, the youngest is a one-year-old baby while the oldest is 84.

Nairobi County produced a majority of the new infections after posting 541 cases, followed by Tharaka Nithi and Machakos at 42 and 39 respectively.

Other counties are Kiambu 26, Kajiado 18, Mombasa 18, Meru 9, Nyeri 5, Makueni 5, Nakuru 4, Garissa 3, Kilifi 2, Kisii 2, Murang’a 2, Narok 2, Nyamira 2, Trans Nzoia 2, Uasin Gishu 2, Kisumu 1, Mandera 1, Migori 1, Nyandarua 1,Kirinyaga 1, Bomet 1 and Wajir 1.

According to the Health Cabinet Secretary Mutahi Kagwe, the country has recorded 191 recoveries with 166 from the home-based and isolation care and 25 from various health facilities.

However, five patients have succumbed to the virus, bringing the cumulative fatality to 1,918.

A total of 678 patients are currently admitted in various health facilities countrywide, while 2,129 patients are on home based isolation and care.
