Two young Kenyan rally drivers have landed a sponsorship from gaming company Bang Bet to take part in the upcoming World Rally Championship (WRC) Safari Rally from June 22 to June 25, 2023.
Gerald Maina and John Ngugi expressed their gratitude to Bang Bet for the sponsorship and pledged to do all it takes to emerge successful in the highly anticipated rally race.
Navigator John Ngugi conveyed his determination to deliver a strong performance in the WRC Safari Rally coming up in Nakuru County.
Bang Bet CEO Leonardo Varese said the company’s intention was to identify and support local talent in rally driving, adding that the high costs associated with the sport was a deterrent to many aspiring rally drivers hence their move to seek passionate individuals to support.
Recognizing the financial challenges in motorsport, Ngugi expressed gratitude for Bang Bet’s trust in their abilities and pledged to prove their worth on the track.
Ngugi, who upgraded from a Mitsubishi Evo 9 to a Subaru Impreza N16, is aiming to surpass last year’s 5th place finish. On his part, Gerald Maina will be participating in the Safari Rally for the first time since its reinstatement into the WRC calendar, driving a Mitsubishi Evo 9.
He has expressed his excitement about the sponsorship, saying the company’s support had boosted their preparations for the world-renowned rally.
The upcoming WRC Safari Rally marks the 70th edition of the World Rally Championship, and Bang Bet’s sponsorship of Gerald Maina and John Ngugi demonstrates their commitment to supporting local talent in the demanding sport of rally driving.
