The country will have to wait for much more time before the true extent of and veracity of the Shakahola Forest killing fields in Kilifi county after the government suspended the second phase of bodies exhumation to pave way for postmortem of the 123 bodies recovered.
So far, the death toll stands at 235.
Yesterday, Coast Regional Commissioner Rhoda Onyancha revealed that eight more bodies were exhumed while four people, one male and three females were rescued from the crime scene.
The regional boss noted that 613 people are still missing as per the reports filed by different families.
The forensic team will commence the postmortem exercise next week on Wednesday.
Autopsy will be carried out on 123 bodies at the Malindi Sub County Hospital Mortuary beginning May 24, 2023 led by Chief Government pathologist Johansen Oduor.
So far, 235 bodies have been exhumed from the Pastor Paul Nthenge Makenzi linked farm since the operation started in March this year.
