The court has ruled that celebrated Kenyan female rally driver Maxine Wahome will be charged with Asad Khan’s murder.
Magistrate Bernard Ochoi heard that Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) Noordin Haji recommended the murder charge after reviewing Wahome’s case file and registering satisfaction with the evidence presented to support it.
State prosecutor James Gachoka applied to have the accused taken for mental health checks before she answers to the charge.
“I ask the court to detain Maxine Wahome at Kilimani Police Station to undergo a mental examination pending the murder charges on Wednesday,” he said.
Assad was fatally assaulted on December 12, 2022, at their Kilimani residence.
Maxine was arrested at Asad’s apartment in Kilimani after his brother reported the matter to the police after being informed of the incident by the management of the residence.
Reports indicated that police officers visited the scene and found that Asad had already been rushed to hospital while Wahome was still at the scene but appeared disturbed since some household goods were littered on the floor and staircase.
Additionally, one of the window pane glasses was broken as well as two door window pane glasses were also shattered.
He was admitted to Nairobi hospital and later transferred to Avenue where he succumbed to injuries suffered on December 18, 2022.
