Police officer commit suicide after killing two women in Langata
Police in Langata have launched probe on an incident where a police officer shot dead two women before turning the gun to himself.
According to a police report, the police officer Mark Mulanda killed his colleague’s wife and girlfriend after excusing himself from patrol duty to ‘pick something from his house’.
The deceased women were identified as Fiona Chepkoech, 37, wife to the deceased’s colleague and Rhoda Machuma Chepchumba, 28, Mulanda’s girlfriend.
Fiona’s husband had traveled out of the city to attend a colleague’s funeral. He arrived home to find the tragedy.
According to officers who responded to the scene, the officer died as a result of a self-inflicted gunshot that entered his neck from the front and exited from the back.
According to the report, the deceased was found fully dressed in his police uniform, pocket phone and his AK47 with 20 rounds remaining.
The bodies were removed to City Mortuary and Chiromo Funeral Home respectively awaiting autopsy.
