Youth, Sports and Arts Cabinet Secretary Ababu Namwamba has appointed ex-Kameme FM presenter Njogu Wa Njoroge as Kenya Film Classification Board (KFCB) chairperson.
According to a gazette notice dated January 24, the journalist will chair the board for a period of three years.
Other members of the board include John Muigai Nyururu, Hariety Namwezi Zitah, Stephanie Kamene Maseki, Kipruto Kiptoo, John Osimbo, Grace Mwendwa Munjuri, and Raphael Ekadeli Loperito.
The team is tasked with regulating the creation, broadcasting, possession, distribution, and exhibition of film and broadcast content.
They are also mandated to ensuring that content conforms to Kenya’s culture, moral values, and national aspirations as well as to protect children from exposure to inappropriate content.
Njogu Wa Njoroge was laid off from Media Max after working at Kameme FM for one year.
He had unsuccessfully contested for the nomination of the Njoro parliamentary seat during the United Democratic Alliance (UDA) party primaries.
