Police have launched investigations into the murder of a popular shoe shiner after he was yesterday found dead near Laico Regency Hotel, Nairobi.
Guards at the hotel who were patrolling the premise found the deceased Andrew Ogolla Tabu 44, lying motionless around 11pm.
They tried to wake him up in vain and later called the police who moved the body to the mortuary.
His wife was later called to Central Police station where she received the news of his death.
Ogolla had been at his place of work behind Eco Bank Towers for the better part of yesterday and had planned to board a vehicle to his home in Kasarani.
According to his colleagues, they left Tabu at the shoe shine site yesterday evening as he prepared work for the following day.
Nairobi police boss Adamson Bungei said they are investigating the incident and a postmortem planned on the body to establish the cause of death.
“We do not know if he was hit or dropped there or killed elsewhere. We will know,” he said.
